Lets talk Celebrants!
Did you know that a wedding day can't actually happen without having an authorised celebrant/ pastor/ priest? So it's important to find someone who is great at what they do, attentive in helping you with all the paperwork and someone who will organise an amazing ceremony for you!
We have the greatest pleasure in meeting lots of celebrants. Many people often ask us "How do I choose a celebrant?" My biggest piece of advice, is to find someone that you can get along with, someone that 'clicks' with both of you. Make sure you meet with them and feel comfortable with them.
There are lots of celebrants out there that are very personable and spend lots of time getting to know you and write a ceremony that is uniquely you.
Have a look at their reviews and ask them for video of them conducting a ceremony, this will give you a good idea of how they speak and present themselves on the day of the wedding.
From a photography and video point of view, we love working with celebrants that work with us.
Remember that your celebrant is going to be in all your wedding photos, so make sure you have someone who dresses nicely and presents well.
For video - We get the best audio if we can put a microphone on the celebrant and plug into their PA system. We love celebrants that speak clearly and know where to hold the microphone for you to say your vows so we can hear you.
For photography - As you sign the register, we love to take a few photos with you and your witnesses looking up at the camera but we don't want to interrupt because we understand the importance of the legal papers. We will ask your celebrant to let us know when they are finished so we can get some photos before they complete the ceremony.
We also love your celebrant to announce at the end of the ceremony the location that we choose for family photos.
We will always talk to your celebrant prior to your ceremony, that way we can both help to make your ceremony run perfectly while capturing every moment.
If you haven't yet found a celebrant, A couple of celebrants that we have worked with and can recommend you have a chat with are:
- The lovely Natasha Hill from Hills Celebrant Services. Natasha is based in Brisbane (Travels anywhere!) She takes a lot of time in writing ceremonies that are unique and suited to the both of you. Natasha is married to the love of her life and loves sharing in the joy of your wedding day. Natasha presents well and speaks clearly and calmly. She is friendly, personable and organised. Natasha always has a smile on her face, she is young and lots of fun.
At the ceremonies we have been to with Natasha, a stand out for us is the way she interacts with the couple and with the guests, she is genuine, always smiling and creates a happy and relaxed atmosphere.

- Tarnya Bennett from I Do for You. Tarnya is based on the Gold Coast and won Celebrant of the year with ABIA this year (Australian Industry Bridal Awards). It was such an exciting night to see her up on stage.
Tarnya's saying is "I love what I do, and do what I love" and this is so obvious in the way she conducts a ceremony. She creates personal ceremonies for every couple. Taryna loves what she does and wouldn't change her job for anything in the world. Many celebrants in the industry look up to and admire Tarnya Bennett.
In the ceremonies we have been to with Tarnya, something that stands out for us is the way she talks to the groom before the bride arrives to put him at ease. Tarnya really knows how to calm the nerves.

- Shane Vincent Celebrant, otherwise known as SVC. Shane is an ex-comedian, I should leave it at that. While maintaining the level of professionalism, he is funny and loves to have a good time. He creates ceremonies that are bound to make you laugh. He is always professionally dressed and always wears a smile. Shane is based in Tweed Heads but covers Tweed Heads and the Gold Coast.
In the ceremonies we have been to with Shane, a stand out is his smile. As he says in the video below, His favourite part of a ceremony is watching the grooms reaction as he watches his bride walk down the isle.
If you want a 'not so traditional' yet funny and relaxed ceremony, have a chat to Shane.

We work with different celebrants every weekend and there are many amazing celebrants out there, our advice is to meet with a couple and find someone who 'gets' you and is on the same page.
